Our Rockstar holiday with Away Resorts

This feature includes #gifted accommodation for review purposes

This Summer we're travelling around the UK to put Britain's best holiday parks and family travel spots to the test. We're kicking things off with a stay in 'The Rockstar' lodge at Tattershall Lakes Country Park in Lincolnshire, UK.

Before we talk about The Rockstar lodges, I thought I should tell you a little about Tattershall Lakes Country Park and its facilities. It's a huge holiday park, with thousands of holiday homes, chalets, static caravans and luxury lodges, all dotted around pretty lakes and overlooking a beautiful castle. It's vast, with six or seven 'villages', each containing its own style of accommodation.

In the centre of the resort there's a modern public area with an outdoor pool, mini golf and treetop-style aerial activity, sprawling play areas and a lovely lake-side bar and restaurant.

It's very clean, tidy and well maintained. Tattershall Lakes Country Park is by far the best looking holiday park resort of its kind we've been to in the UK so far. It's enormous though - take scooters or bikes to get around!

The Rockstar

We were invited to review Away Resort's premium lodge - The Rockstar.

The Rockstar is a large seven birth lodge (we'd say it sleeps five comfortably in beds with extra sleeping space for two kids on the huge L-shaped sofa), all decked out with the kind of technology and furnishings you'd expect from a modern, luxury holiday home.

As you can see from the pics, The Rockstar is open plan and decorated in a kind of London/Britpop style, complete with an awesome telephone-box door and letter-box red Smeg fridge. We were worried the British theming might be a little overwhelming on the senses (especially for a 90s kid like me) but actually it feels very comfy and nostalgic.

Sleeping arrangements

As you know, Tom and I are very critical about 'family' accommodation (nobody wants to share a tiny double room with two nosey, stinky kids) so we deliberately look for hotels and holiday lets with a separate sleeping area for the boys. It's nice to be able to put them to bed and close the door - to enjoy an hour or two of grown-up time before bed.

The Rockstar has a king-sized bedroom, with a free-standing bath and en-suite loo. The kids have their own bedroom with three bunks and a little den. There's also a family shower room.

The Rockstar's Facilities

There's been no expense spared here. The kitchen's well equipped with crockery, glasses and cutlery and a lovely welcome pack with a few essential bits (and a tasty bottle of bubbly).

In the living space there's a multimedia centre with a huge TV, DVD player and Bluetooth speaker.

Just outside The Rockstar (we've saved the best bit until last) there's a landscaped patio area with its own, private hot tub with jets. Over the course of our two night stay I'd estimate our family spent about six hours relaxing in there - it's wonderful.

Booking information

We'd highly recommend The Rockstar for a family holiday. To book your stay in a Rockstar lodge at Tattershall Lakes with Away Resorts, from as little as £225 for a two-night stay (slightly more expensive during the Summer months), visit the Away Resorts website here.
